A Clinic Built on Trust
Our clinic was established in response to the growing need for accessible specialist vascular services across Northern Ireland. Many patients currently experience prolonged waiting times, uncertainty about treatment options, or difficulty accessing expert advice for conditions such as varicose veins, leg swelling, peripheral arterial disease, to name only a few.
We wanted to create a service that prioritises patient care, providing timely evidence-based treatment from a leading consultant vascular surgeon and a hand-picked nursing team.
Our vision was simple: to build a modern vascular clinic where patients receive consultant-led care from their first consultation through to diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. Our dedicated staff and specialist-vascular nursing team combine extensive shared clinical experience.
We founded NI Vascular Clinic on the principles of clinical excellence, accessibility, and integrity. Our service employs the latest techniques and technologies, while retaining a compassionate approach.

JULIE REID
senior Consultant Vascular Surgeon
Miss Julie Reid is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust with over 20 years’ experience in treating vascular disease and varicose veins.
She is a member of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland and the British Association of Sclerotherapy, and is recognised as one of Northern Ireland’s leading vascular surgeons.
Miss Reid specialises in minimally invasive treatments for varicose veins and thread/spider veins, providing care for both insured and self-funding patients alongside her specialist team.
Andrew Pollen
Practice Manager NIVC
Andrew Pollen is Practice Manager at NI Vascular Clinic, with over 20 years’ experience as a senior radiographer, including extensive work in Interventional Radiology.
He oversees daily clinic operations, patient pathways, and regulatory compliance, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality care.
Working closely with the clinical team, he helps maintain a smooth, patient-centred service and supports the clinic’s continued development in the treatment of varicose veins.
Our team works together to deliver safe, effective and compassionate varicose vein care across Northern Ireland.

Kathy McGuigan
Vascular Nurse
Specialist
Kathy McGuigan is a Vascular Nurse Specialist with over 30 years’ experience in NHS and private vascular care, including a senior role at Belfast HSC Trust since 2003.
She specialises in venous procedures such as RFA and foam sclerotherapy and is a qualified Independent Nurse Prescriber. Kathy is known for her calm, patient-centred approach.

Ashley McKnight
Senior Peri-Operative
Nurse
Ashley McKnight is a Senior Peri-Operative Nurse with over 12 years’ experience in surgical and vascular theatre care. She graduated from Queen’s University Belfast and is registered with the NMC.
She specialises in supporting vascular procedures in theatre, maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency. Ashley is calm, experienced, and focused on patient reassurance.

Peri-Operative Care
Diane Russell is a Senior Staff Nurse specialising in peri-operative vascular care with over 6 years’ surgical nursing experience. She supports vascular procedures across NHS and private practice, ensuring safe and efficient patient care.
She holds a BSc (Hons) in Adult Nursing from Queen’s University Belfast and is registered with the NMC. Known for her warm and reassuring approach, she supports patients throughout their treatment journey.
